The BSE Clearing Ltd. (BSECL) on September 25, 2026, issued a Draft TRAI Direction on Minimum Information Requirements for OTP SMS Content Template Format.
The following has been stated: -
•TRAI has proposed a standardised minimum information requirement for OTP SMS content templates to strengthen OTP-based communications and prevent misuse.
•OTP messages should provide sufficient context, including the entity, purpose of authentication, and relevant transaction/activity, instead of generic messages.
•The framework allows sector-specific requirements while maintaining common minimum information standards.
•Stakeholders may submit comments/views to TRAI by September 30, 2026, in the prescribed format.
